Love – Day 3
How can we believe all things? To believe is to put faith or trust in someone. How can there be trust where there has been mistrust? Who is found worthy? This verse is more difficult because we have ALL failed and fallen short. We cannot be trusted.
People have failed us, we have failed them, yet God says LOVE believes all things. It is the love Jesus places within us that can believe all things. When we cannot forgive or trust again, we call on love. When we are the ones who must ask for forgiveness and be trustworthy again, we call on love.
Love heals hearts and makes believing possible again and again and again. Love changes us. It can make ALL THINGS NEW.
Where there is fear and doubt, put on love and see what the Father will do. If God’s love can believe all things, He can equip us for the same task.
Prayer
God, in this Christmas season, may I believe all things of others that You believe of me. May I trust those who have failed me as I, too, have failed You and been forgiven. It is in Your love that I hope and pray. Amen
Call to Action
Can we walk in forgiveness this week? Some of us may need to ask forgiveness first. “Love does not ask to have an easy life of it: self-love makes that her aim.” (Spurgeon) The love of God knows no bounds and can heal our hearts if we ask Him, so we can truly believe all things again.
“Love does not ask to have an easy life of it.” This one challenges me! Such a strong thought to meditate on for my day. Thank you.
Love covers a multitude of sins. Love is the balm that covers and heals the wounds we have caused. Thank you God for helping us do what we can’t do on our own.
