Love – Day 1
“Love…does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.”
In verse six of 1 Corinthians 13, “rejoice” appears twice. Each of these is a separate Greek verb with a variation in meaning. The first rejoice is chairo, which means “exceedingly glad.” The second rejoice is synchairo, and means “to rejoice with someone or something.” Love is not only exceedingly glad about the truth but rejoices with others in the truth.
In love, His gift to us is His Word, which is THE truth. The centerpiece of that truth is Jesus; not only Jesus, the Babe of the manger which we are celebrating, but Jesus Christ of the cross, our Savior!
He is Love. He is Truth, and we are exceedingly glad and rejoice in and with Him, as His love offers us the most precious gift at Christmas–salvation.
Prayer
Father, may the love of baby Jesus fill our hearts, may we rejoice in truth, and may the gift of salvation make us ever grateful. Amen!
Call to Action
Don’t let the gift of His Word be unopened this season. Let’s challenge ourselves to be diligent in our daily reading and study and focus on the eternal rather than those things that seem urgent and more important. Love rejoices in truth!
“You have given me greater joy
than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.” His Word is Love. His Word is Truth. Blessed be the Name of the Lord. Amen.
