Peace – Day 2
Peace is a promise to us as believers, but when we turn to the folly of filling our thoughts with old, dead things, we become blind to all the good God is doing right now. Are you sacrificing sleep, gatherings with family and friends, or your good cheer because you can’t stop rehashing what happened years ago? In Psalm 119:37, David cried out to God, “Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your way.” David knew that things from the past could never bring new life for the days ahead. The Prince of Peace wants to restore your weary spirit and give you peace and a new perspective for your day. Fix your eyes on Him and keep moving forward.
Prayer
God, thank You that Your plans for us are always good, even when we can’t see them right away. Help us to stop clinging to old, worthless things that rob our peace. Revive us in Your way and help us reach forward to take hold of all that Christ has won for us.
Call to Action
Draw two columns on a piece of paper. On one side, write down the major events of your life (good and bad). Pray and ask God to show you how He has blessed or redeemed those things. Write down what He shows you in the second column. Is there anything from the first column that you need to forgive or move on from? Ask Jesus to help; He is always faithful when we cry out in sincerity. When thoughts from your past begin to crowd your mind, look back at your list and be reminded of the goodness of God.
Needed this today. Thanks.
