Double Portion
“Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy.” Isaiah 61:7 ESV
God gives us victory and success when we draw near to Him and seek His Word daily. He will give us the skills and understanding necessary to battle any opposition we encounter along our path, whether our journey takes us through the valley lows or the mountain highs. “Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires” (Psalm 37:3-4 NLT).
I’ve found in my many different seasons of life that some of my desires have been forgotten or put on hold because I’ve been more focused on dealing with overcoming attacks from the enemy, or areas in my life needed to be healed or changed. Although the process was not fun, the reward was totally worth it!
God has given me a wonderful place to live, where I can enjoy the scenery in the quietness of the mountains and reside near my best friend of many years. He’s given me talented people to assist me in my business. My children are talented as well and also contribute to my work, and for that I’m so grateful and blessed. My siblings also contribute—these are blessings beyond comprehension. My grandchildren live close and I enjoy watching them grow and learn. They are truly the crown of the aged. God has reawakened my gift of writing after 27 years; I’m grateful to be able to share this devotional with you today. Whatever God designs for us, He will do it!
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20 ESV).
God delights in our success when we are restored into our own land and have fought our battles and have overcome the enemy. He gives us a double portion of blessings for our trouble.
We are to rejoice in the Lord for what we learned and how we overcame—a time to reflect and praise God for all that He has brought us through. “The Sovereign Lord will show justice to the nations of the world. Everyone will praise Him! His righteousness will be like a garden in early spring, with plants springing up everywhere” (Isaiah 61:11 NLT).
Lord, we are so blessed; Your blessings are too numerous to count. Thank You for the surprises of added blessings. We thank You for your daily provision and watch over our lives. We thank You in advance for what You are going to do in our lives for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Beautiful! Amen 😊
I love that statement, “Trust in the Lord and do good.” Being a Christian should be active and relational, not passive. Thank you for your words.
