My Soul Shall Make Its Boast in the Lord
“Hear my cry, Oh God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth, I will cry out to You. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.” Psalm 61:1-2
It was at the lowest point in my life, when everything around me had seemingly fallen apart, when Jesus called me to return to Him. I heard His voice in the middle of the night. I was in the mountains, looking up at the wonder of the midnight sky. This is when I came face to face with my Creator. I became so aware of His presence as I reflected that He had created the sky, the moon, the stars, and the night. He was present in the darkness, and He met me where I was.
I became totally aware of the darkness that had overtaken my own life. Gazing at the thousands of tiny stars that blanketed the black sky, I realized my sins were as numerous as those stars covering my dark life. I was ashamed that I had turned my back on God, the One who loved me so much He was willing to die for my sins. I was broken that night and began confessing my sins, one by one, to God. Many tears were shed, and I knew I had truly met with the Lord that night.
The next morning, I woke up with hope and joy in my heart. He had given me His peace, a purpose, and His joy. I had become a new creature in Christ. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
From that day on, I have never looked back. I began a journey that has taken me in many directions. Some roads were God-directed, and some were not. The important thing, though, is that no matter which path I journeyed down, He always went with me. He was, and still is, my constant companion. I have learned that letting Him lead is always the best way. Seeking Him first makes it clearer which path to take when we face difficult times. Nothing can separate us from His love.
Thank You, Lord, that when I cried out to You in the darkness, You were there. When our hearts are overwhelmed, You are always there. Thank You for Your love and continuous presence with us today and every day. May we not forget that day we first fell in love with You. May we stay in love with You always. In Your precious Name. Amen.
Amen!!
