True Value
“The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1
Distractions and worldly longings can truly waste time and purpose the Lord has for our lives. As we studied Proverbs this season, the most meaningful takeaway for me has been the value of wisdom, understanding and patience, resting in the Lord’s timing. Seeing all things, no matter how big or small, through this filter.
Our true value is in Jesus. This makes my whining over daily circumstances empty and actually destructive (if I continue in that attitude). But praise God! He has His eye on me and doesn’t allow me to stay there for long. He shows me that there is purpose in the seemingly meaningless daily tasks, and when we embrace the time through God’s perspective, there is growth opportunity.
If we compare ourselves to others, or if plans don’t go as expected, life can be very discouraging. I would love to travel and be exposed to many cultures and places, sharing my faith. I had dreamed that this season of life would be adventurous, but circumstances aren’t allowing such adventure. I’m learning to embrace the moments, looking for God’s hand and maybe a heart lesson. I can smile, knowing He is working His Kingdom in my day-to-day stuff and circumstances. This is becoming an adventure. Letting go and allowing His love to pour through me is life-changing to me and those in my life.
“Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy” (1 Peter 4:12-13).
This verse answered my questions and soothed my heart to truly trust and accept His purpose. He’s in control and this is true value. “Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart” (Psalms 37:3-4), and one more: “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory…” (Ephesians 3:19-20).
Today I celebrate His kingdom and glory. I pray that I’m attentive to being used for His purpose because I am looking to Him for direction, motivation and strength.
Thank you for Your Word, Lord, that guides and changes us to realize You are our true value. Help us to dwell in this land, feeding on Your faithfulness and sharing Your good with others. Amen
Waiting patiently for His answer in full assurance of His faithfulness… ‘Letting go and allowing His love to pour through me is life-changing to me and those in my life.’ Just what I needed!
Amen!
