Kiss the Rock
“He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He.” Deuteronomy 32:4
Thank you for your prayers. In preparation for the radiation therapy, I needed to check into the hospital for a blood transfusion. The complications I’ve been having have been draining my blood and making me incredibly weak. The transfusion should give me a boost.
The treatment is to address the cause of the complications. There’s a very remote chance of it curing/removing the tumor (we can pray for that!), but the main concern is stopping the complications I’ve had. Please pray specifically for that. I’m at peace with the plans, and I’m trusting for good results.
Something very special happened while I was in the hospital. When the day shift of nurses and staff gather to begin the day, they sing the Lord’s prayer. The harmony was beautiful as their voices echoed down the hall. It was a surprising, sweet moment of worship for me as my heart joined in their song.
Val Kadalie, a lovely Christian lady here in Cape Town, has written a book that was launched this week called Kissing the Waves. She quotes Charles Spurgeon: “I have learned to kiss the waves that struck me against the Rock of Ages.”
That quote resonated in my heart! Pretty much every day I thank the Lord for being my Rock. I cling to that Rock in all that I go through. I couldn’t make it without Him. The firm, sure Rock of the Lord Jesus has been my strength and security in every challenge I’ve faced. When the waves of trial, sickness, and suffering have hit, I’ve held on for life to the Rock of Ages.
How grateful I am for the Lord Jesus, my Rock! Thank you for standing with me, for lifting my weary hands, as I continue on this journey!
Father, we do lift Sally before You, as she has asked. Replace her weakness with Your strength. Lessen the complications from her cancer. May her body receive nourishment from food, and her soul receive nourishment from Your Word and Your presence. Show her beautiful things as she makes the long commute to her treatments. We thank You for calling her to teach us as she journeys through so many hardships. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Amen! Praying for you Sally. What a blessing you are to us with the devotionals. Thank you for taking the time to write this and help us see the wonders of God through you. Blessings.
Thank you for sharing during your pain and discomfort. God continually shares His glory with you. Praying for you. May comfort come soon.
