“In My Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.” John 14:2

I think we have all heard people say that a loving God would not send people to hell. I agree, God does not send anyone to hell. He gives us a choice and free will. We decide where to spend eternity. Do we follow Jesus or reject God’s love and salvation? If we believe the Bible, hell is real—Jesus spoke about hell nine times in just the book of Matthew.

I have booked my room in Heaven. It was a gift, paid for by Jesus on the cross (Romans 6:23). Hell is not God’s desire for anyone (2 Peter 3:9). Jesus endured the cross so that we could have forgiveness of sin and fellowship with God restored. We not only get to spend eternity in Heaven, but we also get to have fellowship with God now while we are still on earth.

Our time on earth is so much sweeter when we have a relationship with our Savior. We still have troubles, heartbreak, sorrow. But we also have access to “peace that passes understanding” (Philippians 4:7).

Our God is loving, kind, and merciful. He is also holy and just. Heaven would not be heaven if not kept holy. We are unable to achieve righteousness and holiness on our own. Only by the blood of Jesus are we able to stand before a holy God.

So I say it is true that a loving God would not send anyone to hell. We get to choose relationship with God, or our own will and way. Heaven is a choice, hell is the default destiny.

Thank You, Father, that You love us so much that You gave Your Son, that anyone who believes can have eternity with You. Amen.
