Our Own Path
“ For the Lord watches over the path of the godly….” Psalm 1:6
We are all on a path, our very own path, a path that God has chosen for us specifically. In Psalm 1:6, it says He “watches over” our path, the path of the godly. From God’s vantage point, “watching over” means He sees the path ahead of us and the path we have already traveled. He knows the hills and valleys, the places we stumbled and the roadblocks we must go around. He sees the smooth areas where we can run like the wind and the circumstances that move us one step forward and then two steps back.
The godly are described in verses 2 and 3, as those who delight in the law, meditate on it day and night, bear fruit in season and prosper in all they do. Does that describe me? Does that describe you? On our journey, our path, when we delight ourselves in the Word and meditate on it, bearing fruit and prospering will naturally follow.
Do you realize that our path can look dramatically different when we use the Word as our guide, our map? The path itself may not change, but we will see it differently. The Word keeps us on our path, and shows us the way. When we walk in His ways, we can be comforted by the fact that HE watches over us.
Lord, thank You, that You have a chosen path for me. Thank You for reminding me that You are watching over me. May I stay in Your Word and remember that it is my guide, my roadmap. Show me the way! Amen.
I love this assurance that the Lord watches over us as His Word guides us. I thought of these supporting verses: Proverbs 16:9, Proverbs 20:24, Psalm 17:5, Job 23:11 and
Acts 2:28. God orders our steps and goes before us paving our path. We must stay on the path and follow Him and His Word.
