Praying in God’s Will
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” 1 John 5:14
How many times do we question whether or not the Lord hears our prayer and cares about even our smallest concerns? How do I know I am praying according to His will? I love these scriptures in 1 John because they encourage us in our walk with Jesus and make us confident of His attention and response.
When we live in this confidence, and are seeking the Lord with all of our heart, we are living according to His Word: “And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight” (1 John 3:22). Our desire is to be pleasing in His sight. This makes our life in the Lord secure. It’s an adventure to trust Him and watch Him work things out for good!
“May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions” (Psalm 20:4-5).
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God” (Psalm 20:7).
Praying according to His will includes using Scripture as our guide. Even when we feel flat or discouraged, we can pray for His desire and joy to fill us so that we want to want to seek Him with all of our heart. Also, when we intercede for family and/or friends, we know the Lord is with us in our concerns.
Dear Father, thank You for the confidence You give to each one of us through Your Word, and how You meet us in each and every need. We pray You continue to grow us in prayer and our desire to meet You there. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
“It’s an adventure to trust him…” I love this word!
Amen! Just what I needed to read today!!
