The Table
A Mini Devotional
“You prepare a table before me…” Psalm 23:5a
I wrestled with God this morning. I began my devotions with prayer, as is my habit, praising and worshiping Him, thanking Him, bringing my requests before Him, asking His Spirit for guidance for the day. Usually prayer prepares me to hear from the Lord when I go to open His Word.
But today as I prayed, I sensed a wrestling spirit within me. Not wrestling against the Lord, but against myself—my thoughts, my desires, and my dreams struggling to align with His will. From experience, I knew my thoughts would only ramble if I did not bring them into submission to Christ, so I opened my journal and began to write my meditations. When it all came out, I knew I was submitted to Him. I knew He had spoken and had revealed truth in my inward parts (Psalm 51:6).
When I then went to open the Bible, I had the distinct sense of being called to the Table of the Lord. Now He could feed me. I came hungry—not for answers, but for Him.
Father, thank You for calling us to Your table. May we come hungry.
Amen
Powerful…….thankful…..for this and all of you who are at ‘His table’ today. God Bless You all.
