Thunder Egg
“Make haste, O God, to deliver me! Make haste to help me, O LORD!” Psalm 70:1
“For You are my hope, O LORD God; You are my trust from my youth.” Psalm 71:5
Thunder Egg*
Help me!
A desperate cry
Rings in my ear and through the sky
A deep black night
A child alone
A plea for love—Is bread a stone?
Save me!
I cannot stand
I’m borne about like drifting sand
A barren hope
Is faith a lie?
A call for help—A hollow sigh
Love me!
Unlovely I
Touch me and then I shall not die
Hear what I say
Are my words false?
Can beauty lie within a cross?
Need me!
Then fear will flee
Your need for me will be the key
A Thunder Egg
Could be my sign
The crystals bright with light will shine
Love comes…
Elusive song
The music soft will linger long
For love is God
And God is near
I see your face is wet with tears
Thank You!
For empathy
Eyes free to see inside of me
A geode, I–
Hard—rough and grey
God’s crystal light—A shining day
Lord, Your inspiring and mysterious creation of the thunder egg reminds me that some things of beauty are hidden under a hard, rough, grey surface—and sometimes that hidden, beautiful thing is me. I pray that You would shine forth out of my innermost parts. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Sometimes it’s me too…thank you and amen.
Thank you for this beautiful picture in words.
Sometimes I find a camelia blooming on the back of the bush at the bottom, hidden by branches, and I realize that beauty is still beauty even if no one sees it. Thank you for this analogy in a geode, created for His pleasure.
