God Cares for Me More than Lizards, Doesn’t He?
“I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.” Psalm 37:25
The other day I went out for a walk, and happened to notice dozens of baby lizards darting all around my path—in fact, I have noticed this on my last several walks. We must have just gone through the lizard-breeding season!
Then I got to thinking, what do baby lizards eat? They must eat bugs. But how do they find enough bugs to eat to grow up into a strong, healthy, big lizard? Some of these babies were no more than an inch and a half to two inches long! Then I thought, well, God must bring the bugs to them—I’m fairly positive they don’t have a mom or dad lizard looking after them! When I think of all the baby lizards everywhere that God has to make sure get fed—they actually only make up a tiny, tiny, tiny, TINY portion of His creation that He has to make sure gets fed every day! Whew, what an incredibly difficult job!
But we know from His Word that nothing is too difficult for God. If God is going to make sure a lizard gets fed every day, then for sure I can trust Him to meet my daily needs. When I think back over the years, there have been more than a few times when we have been in-between jobs. Yet our mortgage has always gotten paid, there has always been gas in the tank to get me where I needed to go, food on the table and clothes on our backs. Maybe I haven’t always gotten everything I’ve asked for, but I’ve certainly always got everything I needed!
I suppose it is human nature to notice that some folks get to live in the lap of opulent, unbelievable luxury, but when I start noticing a little too much what other folks have, I stop myself. Then I remind myself that they only get to enjoy that luxury for a brief moment in time while I, on the other hand, get to bask from eternity to infinity, IN the beauty and riches of my Savior and King, IN Paradise, IN a mansion He is designing especially for me.
Now I challenge ANYONE to try and beat that!
Meanwhile, as long as I’m still here on earth, I’ll keep living in the truth of the lesson I have learned over the years: “As long as I have Jesus, it’s enough!”
Thank You, Father, that not only do You make sure that lizards and other creatures get to eat every day, but You are looking after my needs 24/7. Dad? You sure are a wonderful Father!
We are SOOO Blessed!
Amen!
