“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8 ESV

Heaven Is Free

The true, yet ‘out of the blue’ words of my six-year-old granddaughter spoken just the other day to her mother: “Ya’ know what, mom? Heaven is free.”

“Oh, and where did you hear that?” asked her mom. My granddaughter replied with unspoken words as she looked up at her mom with a big smile on her face, a shrug of her shoulders, and then joyfully she skipped away.

When we as parents and grandparents take the time to pray for our children and grandchildren, then God shows us in unusual ‘out of the blue’ ways that He hears us—He’s watching over our little ones and speaking to their hearts.

In our society, we recognize that many ungodly actions are accepted by our world’s standards today. As a mother and grandmother, I am concerned for the lives of our children and grandchildren as they are forced to live in our society of deception and degraded standards—which are not acceptable by God. I am so thankful for God and for making a way in these times that we can pray; we still have the freedom to read the Bible, to speak godly truths, and to be a part of our church family. We have the privilege to give all of our concerns to Jesus, and to lay them at His feet. It is our part as parents and grandparents to teach our children how to live in these days as we recognize the Day of our Lord is coming soon.

“God is in His heaven—all is right with the world.” (Robert Browning)

Yes, Heaven is free to any of us who believe in Him and accept God’s free gift of Jesus into our hearts. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.” (John 3:16-17 ESV)

God prepared His free gift for us a long time ago. We have been in His thoughts from the beginning—He had a plan for us then, and He has a plan for us now. Yes, Heaven is free! It is an added benefit, and an added free gift for us to spend eternity with Him.

The word free described in Webster’s dictionary reads: Thrown open, or made accessible, to be enjoyed without limitations, said of a thing to be possessed or enjoyed. Not gained by purchase.

Thank You, Lord, for the special moments when You reassure us that You have heard our prayers for our children and for others. Thank You for preparing a place for us. We ask for continued daily guidance. We praise You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
