Cinderella

Some years back, I went to the movies to see the newest version of Cinderella. What can I say…I’m a fan. It’s been my favorite Disney movie since I saw the cartoon version way back in the 60’s at a drive-in! I love the kindness of Cinderella’s heart and attitude, the elegance of the ball, the handsome prince that loves Cinderella for who she really is, and the happily-ever-after ending. It’s a fantasy dreamland for me…sigh.

As a child, I loved the story just for the sake of the story. As I have grown in my relationship with Jesus, I see more.

The Bible says that we, as believers, will be changed “in the twinkling of an eye” (1 Corinthians 15:52), and just like Cinderella’s fairy godmother bippity-boppity-booped her into that beautiful dress, we will be transformed by our loving Heavenly Father (however, His changes won’t wear off at the last stroke of midnight!)

The Bible says, “I am making everything new” (Revelation 21:5). What a wonderful promise of God! In the movie, Cinderella could never have imagined the magical changes that were waiting for her that evening…and for us as believers, we can’t even begin to fathom the wonderful things God has planned for us (1 Corinthians 2:9)!

Our Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) sees us as we are and loves us anyway. He is waiting to transform us into what we will be. He is inviting us to the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:9). He is preparing, for us, the ultimate happily-ever-after ending! Or really, the ultimate happily-ever-after beginning!

How precious are His promises (2 Peter 1:4, “…by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises…”)!

Father-God, we look forward to the day when we will see You face-to-face. We look forward, though we can’t even imagine what You have planned for us, to all that You are preparing. Help us keep our heart and attitude kind as we wait. You are more than we could ever hope for.
