“For this reason, I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentile—if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, how that by revelation, He made known to me the mystery…” Ephesians 3:1-2
Who Knew?
In this Scripture Paul is saying in effect, “I’m not making this stuff up!” This was God-revealed and Spirit-taught. Yes, it is the crazy purpose of God to rescue man through the sacrifice and suffering of Jesus, to reconcile not only man to God, but man to man. Jew and Gentile alike would be saved through the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. Who knew?
No one could have thought of this, that God would become a man and live among us. Who could foresee the proud and righteous Jew reconciled with Gentile dogs in the same living faith? Who saw the substance of Old Testament prophecy or the reality behind the shadows? His ways are not our ways, nor His thoughts our thoughts. He is so much bigger than we know.
What has God revealed to you that seems improbable, if not impossible? I knew a man some years ago who ran for Sheriff and lost the primary election quite handily. That meant his name would not be on the ballot for the general election. After the primary results came in, he told me quite confidently that God had told him to run in the general election and that he would win. He would campaign as a “write in.” The odds were astronomical that a man defeated in the primary whose name did not even appear on the ballot would win the office of Sheriff. He assured me that he had heard from God and even though he recognized how crazy it was, he was campaigning for office. And, yes, he won! Who knew? God knew.
God’s plans for us continue beyond anything we can think or imagine. Look up! There is so much more to come. You will be utterly amazed at His revelations and the glory that is in store. Look past your present circumstances. Think bigger! We will marvel in stunned wonder at the things God will do, not only in the here and now, but throughout eternity. Honest, I’m not making this stuff up.
Father, no matter our situation, no matter our difficulty, no matter the challenges we face, You are bigger. You have good plans and glorious purposes as You reveal Your glory in our lives. May we believe Your Word to us and hear Your Spirit’s counsel. We put our trust in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Amen!!!
