“Jesus said to them, `Come away with Me. Let us go alone to a quiet place and rest for a while.’ Many people were coming and going. They could not even eat.” Mark 6:31

A Quiet Place

Have you ever felt like you needed a quiet place to rest for a while? I have!

Sometimes the thought of “let us go alone to a quiet place and rest for a while” brings tears to my eyes!

One night as I lay awake telling God how overloaded I was feeling and how I wished I could escape with Him for a while. I felt Him whisper an invitation to my heart to “Come away with Me.” I thought, “Seriously?! Yes, yes, yes!”

Jesus showed me a little cabin nestled beneath tall pines with a small, covered porch and a brook running beside it. I walked up the steps and opened the door. Inside was a room with a glowing fireplace and two windows. There was an opened futon in front of the fireplace with a pillow and a quilt. I sensed Jesus inviting me to just rest and be still. I thought I should be praying, or worshiping or something, but it was like Jesus was whispering “shhhh” to me. I breathed in His peaceful Presence as I lay down on the futon, pulled up the quilt and just rested.

It was the first time I had ever just rested in Jesus’ presence. I always thought I had to pray or worship…but just rest? It was so peaceful. Restoring.

Jesus is inviting you, too, to “Come away with Me. Let us go alone to a quiet place and rest for a while.” What will your answer be? I encourage you to go!

Exodus 33:14 says, “And He (God) said, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'”

Holy, Heavenly Father, thank You for knowing exactly what I need and for inviting me to just rest in Your Presence and breathe. Thank You for restoring my soul. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
