”Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share…” 1 Timothy 6:18
Willing
As the Lord called me to intercede for His women this morning, I was overwhelmed by the fact that He lets me be a small part of the miraculous things He does in people’s lives: the breaking of strongholds (“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,” 2 Corinthians 10:4); healing and freedom (“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom”, 2 Corinthians 3:17 HCSB), often before they even happen.
As I knelt before Him in my kitchen, where I had been making my daughter’s lunch for school, asking who am I that you would give me such an honor and privilege—He simply replied, “You are willing.”
WOW! We think we’re not qualified (we don’t have a theology degree) or sure we’re unfit (we yelled at our kids, fought with our husband, or watched TV last night instead of doing Bible Study homework) or whatever else we use to disqualify ourselves–to say we are unable to do things for the Kingdom of God. It’s not true, of course; it’s a lie from the very pit of hell.
God is the able One. “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8). He is the strength, the love, the power, the…fill in the blank. He just asks that we be willing. Willing to pray, to speak, to volunteer, to evangelize abroad, to stay at home as a mom, to shine His light in our workplace, to write, to sing…to whatever He asks us to do.
Are you willing? If so, ask Him what He would have you do or who He would have you reach out to. Then when He answers you–do it.
Your willingness and His ability–what an unstoppable combination!
Dear Lord, thank You for asking me to be a part of Your kingdom work. I have always found You more than able. May You always find me willing. Amen.
